TODAY’S HOT TOPIC: Gabby Douglas Has a Message for You–Do You Believe Her?

Ladies, Gabby Douglas made a huge impression on young girls during the 2012 Olympics.

But her desire and ability to inspire didn’t end there. She’s just released her book, Grace, Gold and Glory: My Leap of Faith. It’s her story about faith through both adversity and success. And she wants to remind girls, just like you, that nothing is impossible with God.

I feel like God is not there for me and my mom just sat me down and said, ‘I don’t know what’s happening but don’t give up now. Be strong. Keep your faith. Don’t, don’t give up.

I’m so glad I got to go to London and inspire young girls, or anyone really, to pass down my advice, to pass down the message and say anything is possible, if you just believe (Gabby Douglas).

“Anything is possible, if you just believe.” Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Do you believe her?

Not only did Douglas and her mother overcome adversity though illness and homelessness, but they left it behind them and continued on to fulfill a dream. It wasn’t easy and there was doubt, but their faith was stronger than it all.

Luke 1:37 tells us that nothing is impossible with God, and Douglas wants to spread that truth among us all.

Ladies, dreams come in all sizes, right? What is your ultimate dream and do you believe that it will come true?

I love Gabby Douglas. She sets a certain spark that is so unique! I’m also a gymnast, and she has motivated me! I haven’t read her book yet, but I have read Shawn Johnson’s,( she was a 2008 Olympic medalist) it is so great to read about these amazing athletes that have a tremendously amazing faith in God!

Gabby is such an inspiration to young girls, especially young girls of color. There are very little great young black role-models for girls like me and I am so thankful she is around now!

I love her! My ultimate dream is to open a restaurant some day, “The Singing Chef” God gave me a passion for cooking (I also love to sing) and I want to share my passion with others. He also gave me the passion the praise Him and spread His love with others. I believe that when I open a restaurant someday, that God will find a way for me to reach out and change others’ lives through that restaurant, 🙂

I understand what you are going through…I have been through similar as you but the thing is is that it sounds like you may have some bitterness towards God, like I did. The thing is, it’s letting go of it. If you didn’t love God, obviously you wouldn’t be seeking help, and you are seeking help. The thing is that we have to let go of the life of self. We can’t be living based on our emotions if we want to get who God is…we have to seek Him with our spirits and with our all….Just let go of whatever you believe is holding you back from God, and you will find yourself closer to Him, then ever….that’s what I am working on: letting go of the things of this world.

Salvation is a gift from God. All you have to do is accept it. It seems like a simple thing to do, but really, this gift is the hardest to accept. Part of His gift is a relationship between you and Him. Like any relationship, it takes work from both ends, which makes it hard for humans sometimes.
Also, all people sin. It’s natural. God forgives us; sometimes, the hard part of that is remembering that. He forgave us and paid for us on the cross. So, no matter what sins you’ve committed, it doesn’t make you not a Christian. Remember the criminals who died on the cross next to Jesus? They both were crucified because of crimes they committed – because of sins. The one criminal asked Jesus to forgive him, and Jesus promised to take him to Heaven. That’s all you have to do: accept God’s gift. 🙂

Let me ask you this: How many times did Jesus die on the cross? One time, uno, once. Thus, how many times does it take to repent in order to be saved? The equivalent, one time, uno, once. But, I know, that’s hard right?! Our lives are full of having to work for everything! We are unworthy to just GET to Heaven for free! But that’s what God did, gave us a free ticket. He wrote your name into the Book of Life in permanent ink, He will NEVER erase it. You don’t have to keep being good in order to stay there, because remember, in the Old Testament that’s what they had to do. Sacrifice CONSTANTLY to stay right with God. Jesus was the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE! Pray to God to help you believe that you are saved forEVER! Once a Child of God, always a Child of God! And maybe this drive for wanting to do something is a calling. I’ll be praying for you! Just remember, you were forgiven for your past, present, and future sins. That will never change.

You have to keep going. God has saved you, and given you a way of salvation. But just because you have repented, it doesn’t mean that you’re safe forever. You have to keep up the good work! You will continue to sin, but that’s alright; you’re still only human. Just follow God’s word and repent when you sin, and God will keep your place reserved in Heaven.
