Top 5 Lip Glosses We Love

While there are plenty of gals out there who love a brightly hued lip stain or lipstick, there are others who prefer to layer on a more simple gloss or balm (more on those next week!). The good news is that there are tons of great glosses on the market for you to peruse and choose from! You can go clear, with a tint, with a sparkle, with a tint and some sparkle, and many more choices.

To help you get started in the quest for your ultimate mainstay lip gloss, we’ve rounded up five of our top picks! We can’t wait to see what you think and hear all about your already hard-earned favorites in the comments below.

The most spendy of our picks, MAC’s clear Lipglass has been a staple of the lip gloss world for years now. Why? The unique liquid creates a high gloss, glass-like finish that still manages to pull off a subtle sheen. You only need a tiny amount to cover your whole mouth and the addition of jojoba oil helps soften your lips. This is, as they say, “the good stuff.” (, $15)

If you enjoy the most simple of all glosses, this clear lip infusion roller might just be the fit for you. Made with squalene, jojoba oil and aloe, this rich formula will last for hours without ever getting a waxy after-affect, according to N.Y.C. dermatologist Virgil Hatcher. It’s also a gloss that you can pair with a matte lipstick if you’d still like a pop of color. (Blistex, $3)

This double duty gloss has an added ingredient that you’ll either love or find pretty strange! This lightweight gloss delivers breath-freshening peppermint oil that you can both faintly smell and taste. Still interested? It also comes in blue-based red, plum and pink shades designed to make teeth look whiter. (, $6)

Revlon’s high-quality, high-shine lip gloss is available in 14 shades, each with a sheer finish and SPF 15–something you don’t see too often in lip glosses but that is an awesome added bonus. (, $7)

One of the queen bees of inexpensive lip glosses, L’Oreal’s Colour Riche line is full of argan and omega-3 oils, making it a super nourishing gloss. Once you’ve fallen in love with the line, you’ll be thrilled to know it comes in 16 creamy and shimmery hues: corals, nudes, pinks and reds, including the popular Nude Touch. Each shade lends natural shine that will never leave you feeling over glossed and keeps a pretty stain long after the actual gloss is gone. (, $8)

Girls, which gloss is your favorite? Have you ever tried any of our picks? Have your own favorite lip gloss already? Share it in the comments below!

    1. Ohh! I just love stuff like this 😀 My favorite would have to be the third one from Covergirl that’s six dollars. No, I have never tried any of them, but I can’t wait to!! My favorite right now is Time&Again’s Vitamin C Natural Lip Moisturizer ^.^

    2. One of my favorite lip glosses is from Bare Essentials (or Escentuals; they spell it weird). It’s under the makeup sub-name Buxom, in the color Creamsicle. It is a really nice, very wearable color that also plumps and leaves a tingling sensation on the lips.

    3. I used to have #2 a while ago! It’s super smooth 🙂 The colour of the Revlon one looks dandy for show choir season (we have to get red lips, and scrubbing off red matte lipstick or lip stains is not…fun…at all)

    4. I have wanted to try Rimmels Apocalips but its only available in the UK. But they released a version called Showoff available at Walgreens in the US I bought two different shades of it today. I have only heard good things so I am very excited to try it!!”

    5. I like BeautiControl’s lip glosses (my mom sells BeautiControl!) and I like Bath and Body Works’ glosses, too. Although those are harder to put on because they’re in a squeezable tube.
