Top 5 Modest Shorts for Summer

As the weather continues to get warmer, you’ll likely be looking to break out the shorts and skip the sweating. Seriously, jeans look great, but they don’t feel great when it’s 90 degrees outside!

We know that some of you don’t feel comfortable in shorts at all, and those who do may prefer a longer length. We did our best to find a variety of styles while staying within the comfort zone of most of our PI gals. We can’t wait to hear what you think of our top five choices! cuffed boyfriend bermudas

Old Navy is having a major shorts sale right now—all of their shorts are $15! We love these cuffed boyfriend Bermudas, available in petite and tall as well. The shorts come in seven colors, but we’re digging this “Walk the Lime” (ha!) shade. You’ll be itching to get on a boat in no time! (Old Navy, $15)

    denim bermudas

The Bermuda shorts trend is great for modest wear, and if you like the lime shorts we featured above, you’ll be happy to know you can get the same length and cut in denim. These, of course, will get a lot of wear and go with anything in your closet! (Old Navy, $15)

    drapey shorts

These drapey shorts come in four colors (including a print), but we’d go for classic black, which can easily be dressed up or down, making them extra versatile! (Target, $23)

    American Eagle Cargo Shorts

Need a lot of pockets for all of your summer adventures? These neutral cargo bermuda shorts have got you covered! (American Eagle Outfitters, $45)

    Kohls Skimmers

If you love khakis and want a pair of shorts that you’ll get a lot of wear out of, we suggest these comfortable skimmers. (Kohl’s, $22)

Girls, which pair of shorts is your favorite? Where did you buy your favorite shorts? What do you think makes a pair of shorts modest? Tell us all in the comments below!

    1. Eh. I personally find this kind of shorts kinda… eh. xD I like to wear “short (but not too short) shorts” and capris in the summer. Capris when extra modesty is required. 😉

    2. Those are awesome! It is so hard to find modest shorts… I often go to Penny’s and shop in the kids section because they offer more in a decent length! I am definitely going to go get a pair of the green Old Navy ones because my church’s VBS is color themed and I help with the green crew, so that will be festive! 😀

    3. The jean Old Navy bermudas were cute! But I personally find these a bit meh. My modesty rule for shorts are that when I put my arms down they’re no shorter than my thumb.

I’m so looking foward to this Modest Summer Fashion series!!! Please please please do one on swimsuits like last year!!!!! 😀

    4. I have to admit, that I do wear shorter shorts. I personally don’t like bermuda’s because they fail to flatter my body shape in any way, shape or form. They also defeat the purpose of “shorts” because, the purpose of wearing them is to be more comfortable from the heat. I would classify most of these as “capris”, not shorts. Being on the lighter side, shorter shorts don’t look immodest on me, so I wear them.

      • I don’t mind other people wearing shorter shorts, although I love (and am only comfortable in) longer ones. However, just to be technical these all are shorts and not capris, except maybe the last pair. The difference is, capris cover the knees. 🙂 Not trying to be mean or anything, I’m just saying. 🙂

    5. I dislike all of these. They’re too long for me. I like a mid-thigh short to shorter. I have my own rules for shorts- they have to be longer than my fingers and my parents have to approve. The shorts featured are too modest for my taste, and they aren’t comfortable for me.

    6. I love the Old Navy shorts; I got them in a mint color! I love most of these ideas! I don’t mind wearing shorter shorts at all, but these are perfect for the times when I especially need to wear something modest.

    7. I prefer shorts that almost or do touch my knees… which can be kind of tough since I’m taller! However, it’s important to me, so I make the effort. But for me, I’m so used to longer shorts that wearing fingertip length shorts feels super revealing and uncomfortable for me. Haha, it’s kind of funny! Anyway, I think all of these are super cute! The last pair reminds me of my favorite pair of shorts, that happens to be wearing out- I’d love to go try them on and see if they really are similar! If they are, I’d love to stock up! 😀

    8. I really love the length of those first pair of Old Navy shorts. I had never thought to try shopping there! I have a such a hard time buying shorts now a days! The biggest reason is because I’m really short (5’2) and my legs are not very long I simply cannot pull of bermuda shorts (not even in petite sizes) I usually buy a pair of jeans (or use old jeans I have) and cut them to a pair of shorts that I am happy with. It is great to do that but it is nice to just go in a buy a pair then doing it yourself. Thank you so much for posting this for us! This has been super helpful for me! 🙂

    9. I have found Aerpostal. has a pair of shorts in their uniform collection that are really nice. They sit just at the knee on me are super comfy. They come in blue, black, khaki and one other color. I wear these shorts to work because there my shorts cannot have any frayed edges and have to be black, blue or khaki. You have to order them online because school is almost out but they are only $14 right now. They have them in standard and curvy (I’m not sure of the difference)
