Top 5 Modest Tankini Looks for Summer 2014

Bathing suit season has arrived…are you ready? While some of you gals might have a trusty standby suit that you’ve been relying on for summers now, others might be looking for an upgrade or at least a peek into what’s available for this year. And while we know it can seem tough to find a modest swimsuit, there are plenty of good choices out there once you really start looking.

Tankinis are a great option if you like the general idea of a two piece, but want more coverage. We know that you girls have different opinions when it comes to swimwear—and that’s fine! The most important thing is that you wear something that you’re comfortable in. As usual, it was hard for us to narrow down all the options, and we can’t wait to see what else you girls have found—please share in the comments below!

Obsessed with swimdresses? We covered those recently as well, so be sure to check out our picks. In the coming weeks, we’ll also spotlight regular one-pieces, so look out for that post if you prefer a more simple style. Are we missing a type of suit you love, or is there something you’d like to see more of? Let us know in the comments below!

    1. As usual, you guys did a great job! Another type of modest swimsuit’s I think you should do is athletic. Like rashgaurds and board shorts and athletic one peices. It would be good for those of us gals who like water and beach sports. Anyways, I love all of these! thanks for the good ideas!!!

    2. These are all cute. I personally believe that bikinis can be modest, depending on who you are and what you believe about God. I wear my bikini when I’m with my girlfriends and tanning, but usually stick to my one-piece when I’m around my guyfriends. I think the main difference is the reason they would wear a bikini. Is it to show off? Because that’s pride and that’s wrong. But if it’s because a girl likes a suit and wears it in the right setting, then it’s ok.

    3. I personally hate tankinis, only because they are quite uncomfortable to me. One pieces aren’t very flattering on me, either. I actually own one very modest bikini. It covers all of the right places and then some. My mom was hesitant when I said I wanted a bikini (and I can’t blame her haha!), but she conceded, as long as she got to judge whether it was modest enough. The one I have is mother-approved 🙂 It’s the only swimsuit I have, so I wear it with my friends and with the youth group, girls and guys. I thought it would be weird to wear a bikini to a youth group party, but all the girls did. Our youth group is pretty chill B-)

Haha, I started rambling. Sorry! Bottom line: I like my bikini because it’s comfortable and flattering. And it’s not showing off: I barely have anything in the chest area, and my butt’s pretty flat! Haha! 🙂

    4. Uh, I take it back. New youth group rule says that bikinis are not encouraged. Oops. Looks like I’m either throwing a shirt over my bikini top or I’m gonna have to find me one of these cute suits!

    5. I love the vintage look and ended up getting a really cute and modest vintage looking bikini top that has a lot of coverage and then paired it with some “high-rise” bottoms. I think it’s a great way to be able to wear a bikini and still be modest.
