Top 5 Places to Shop for Modest Clothing

While shopping can be super fun, it’s a bummer to hit the mall with your girlfriends and find store after store filled with clothing you don’t feel comfortable in. With popular big-brand, affordable stores selling clothing that—for the most part—doesn’t feel entirely modest, it can be hard to find things you actually want to buy and wear. So even though getting creative with your options is always on the table, we wanted to share five of our favorite shops for modest clothing. Hopefully at these places, you won’t have to be so picky!

Note: We decided to only choose stores that you girls can most likely physically go to. As we’re sure you know, there are plenty more options on the Internet if you’re willing and able to shop online and order things delivered to your home. Just be sure to check out the return policies in case your picks don’t fit! We recommend Mikarose, Shabby Apple, Junee, Dainty Jewells, Sierra Brooke and Sweet Salt.

In general, department stores can often be a safe haven for modest clothing shopping. While you’re sure to run across a few things you won’t want to wear, the average of good to bad is a lot more favorable at stores like JCPenney and Macy’s than at more trendy boutiques. The other good news is that department store clothing is usually better made and slightly less trendy, meaning that it will last longer both in physical form and as a rotating part of your wardrobe.

If you love hunting for a bargain in a store that offers tons of different options, you might enjoy shopping at Kohl’s. The discount retailer is renowned for their awesome bargains on fashionable clothing from lots of different brands, many of which are modest. You might have similar luck at stores like Marshall’s and TJMaxx. Check to see which stores are in your area and go find those great deals!

Many of Aeropostale’s options are on trend and modest, as seen on the models in the ad above. If you keep a lookout for sales, you can often land a good deal on both basics and trendier pieces.

While clothing might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Target, it’s actually a great place to shop for just about anything… including shoes, jewelry and clothes! While the same can be said for similar stores like Kmart and Walmart, Target has a decidedly more trendy stock. Inexpensive and largely modest, the big-box store can be found in most cities and has a constant rotation of new items and pricey famous designers stopping through with more affordable items.

As evidenced in their ad above, Old Navy has super cute and stylish clothing that is both affordable and modest. Their sister company, The Gap, is a bit more pricey, but also features tons of modest clothing. Both stores are often found in malls and have a mix of everyday basics and trendier pieces.

PI Girls, do you have a favorite place to shop for modest clothing? Are you planning to try out any of our picks? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Definitely check out Indigo Lane – https://shopindigolane.com – they specialize in modest clothing for women so you don’t have to sort through clothing that isn’t modest to find what you need like you do at large department stores.

I thrift it all the way. Nothing better than a cute shirt for $1. But jeans are hard for me to find in thrift stores so when I need jeans, I go to JCPenny. They have some great skinny jeans that aren’t tight. Plus, if you wait until they are having a sale, you can get 2 pairs for the price of 1.
