Top 5 Summery Pieces That Transition Well to Fall

Getting ready to pack up your summer wardrobe? Wait! There might be some pieces you still can wear during the fall…and even into winter! While it’s always good to prep your closet for the season and have the right stuff easily at your fingertips, there are many ways to have your favorite pieces transition into the cooler season ahead. Here are 5 of our favorites!

Summery dresses, like this sale find, are easy to transition to fall. While the color scheme might not be perfect for winter, you can wear it through Thanksgiving by pairing it (and others like it) with tights or leggings, boots and a sweater or jacket. ($23, The Gap)

Much like dresses, skirts can be transitioned to fall with the addition of tights and boots or ballet flats. While you might think that white eyelet should stay safely in the summer months, we think white looks great year-round! ($27, Old Navy)

Neon bright colors like this yellow shirt might not seem like an obvious option for fall. But staple items like t-shirts and tanks should rarely be tossed aside once the colder months hit. Layering is huge for fall–both for warmth but also for style! This t-shirt could be paired over a henley (with rolled sleeves) or under a cardigan or blazer. ($30, Anthropologie)

Rompers, a huge trend in recent summers, definitely scream sunshine weather. If you’ve got a cute one with shorts, you can try pairing it with tights and a sweater. Whether or not it “works” will depend on the fabric and print, but we suggest trying it out before hiding it away! Pants rompers are easier, since you can simply wear one with closed toe shoes and a chunky sweater or cardigan over it. If it’s denim like the one pictured above, you also can get away with wearing a henley underneath. ($40, Holding Horses)

An open weave cardigan doesn’t exactly scream “keep me warm,” but it can still work as a great layering piece in the fall! Paired over a long sleeved shirt with a scarf, this super cute knit sweater is the perfect color for the autumn season. ($30, Anthropologie)
