In life, our identity can be attacked and we can have thoughts that don’t align with who God says we are. There can be flaming arrows from the enemy and lies from this world (Psalm 91). How do we combat this assault on who we really are?
First, we need to know who we are and who we belong to. When we are shaken, it’s an identity issue. We need to know we belong to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords as followers of Christ. I believe that in our generation, the enemy of our salvation wants us to think we are powerless. We must not believe this lie. In fact, we are very powerful.
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. (Luke 10:19)
Second, we need to know God’s Word and read it. God says that we need to put on the full armor of God (read Ephesians 6). We must clothe ourselves with truth before engaging in the spiritual battle of light and darkness if we want to walk in victory. We need to read truth because faith comes by hearing God’s Word (the Old and New Testaments of the Bible). There are many sources that imitate truth, but these are copies or counterfeits of the biblical knowledge of God. Make sure what you read solely lines up with God’s Word because that is the ultimate source of life and is the sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6).
As children of God, we are co-heirs and co-laborers with Christ. The Bible says that we are a royal priesthood and that we belong to God. We must realize that it also says we have the same power that raised Christ from the dead inside of us (Romans 8:11). I pray that you know that as a daughter of God, you have the power to speak to the Lord Almighty, our Heavenly Father, which makes us daughters of the King.
And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory. (Romans 8:17)
We are not just daughters of a King, but the King of Kings. He hears every prayer and sees every tear that falls. God is with us and the Holy Spirit lives within us. We have authority over snakes and scorpions and every high thing that exalts itself against Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). I pray that you know this power and you use it through prayer and faith. If you don’t know God the Father yet through His Son Jesus Christ (Yeshua), you can say this prayer—click here to read “How to Know God.”
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
I pray that you accept being into the family of God. Even if you have a broken family, God adopts you in. God’s love for us is so big and so deep. The Lord desires to have a relationship with you and wants you to get to know Him through His Holy Word, the Bible, and through fellowship with other believers, His children. God speaks through His people, His Spirit and His Word. Just ask God to reveal Himself to you and to speak to you, and He will. God then wants you to help others know the good news and to share His love.
I am coming quickly. Hold firmly that which you have, so that no one takes your crown. (Revelation 3:11)
I declare that you are a new creation in Christ, that you are a victorious royal daughter of the King, and that you are in right standing with God because Jesus died on the cross and rose again for you. You now have His spirit on earth to guide you because God is Emmanuel, “God with us.” God the Father redeemed our broken relationship because of sin, which separated us during the fall of man. We all sin and all need the messiah or savior Jesus. The Son of God (Jesus Christ) redeemed us by dying on the cross, defeating death, and when He returned to sit at the right hand of God, He left us His Holy Spirit. Isn’t that beautiful? God loves us and says He will never leave us nor forsake us.
“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:18)
I encourage you girls to read God’s Word, to walk in the light of the Word and to be around people who will encourage you to be more like Jesus. I know that life can be rough at times and we can forget who we are, but hold firmly to your eternal crown. Your eternal salvation is sealed by the Lord, so hold your head up high and wear that invisible crown because you are real royalty. Amen?
