WATCH! Does Colton Dixon Have What it Takes for Christian Music Success?

Former American Idol contestant Colton Dixon just released his new Christian contemporary single “You Are” to iTunes this week.

People loved Dixon’s performance on the eleventh season of American Idol – he gained a huge following of fans. Although he came in seventh, he’s making his name in the Christian music world. In fact, this spring he’ll be joining Third Day and Josh Wilson on The Miracle Tour.

Here’s Dixon performing his new single live on K-LOVE:

    If I had no voice,
    If I had no tongue,
I would dance for you like the rising sun.
And when that day comes and I see your face.
I will shout your endless glorious praise.

While we think that Dixon has a ton of talent, we here at Project Inspired hope he has what it takes to stand out. As with secular music, a lot of Christian music sounds the same within their own genres. Only a few artists stand out with a unique sound.

Let’s face it: Christian music is a more difficult genre to find success, partly because Christian music fans are more particular about what they listen to. We think Dixon has the talent to establish a more unique sound. That way he won’t get lost in the current sea of Christian artists.

Girls, do you think Colton Dixon has what it takes to become successful in the Christian music industry? Which Christian artists do you feel have a unique sound?

    1. He DEFINITELY has what it takes to become a successful Christian artist!! I admit that his music genre is not very different or unique than of other artists, but the his lyrics are sooo beautiful. My sister and I began to cry the first time we heard both his singles, hehehe. I think God has a great future and success in store for him. And I will be praying that it happens!

    2. I loved him on American Idol as a person and the way he stood up for Our King! He has a wonderful voice and he is a true christian. Lord, please help him to never stray away from you so he can a be a successful christian artist and celebrity. There are so few of them and he is greatly needed. In Jesus name,I TRULY pray, amen.
