Weekly Poll: Do You Love Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us. We know that some people love the holiday and others dread it, and we want to hear on which side you fall!

Some people feel it’s only for those in relationships and therefore leaves all of the singletons out; others think it’s super cheesy. It’s been argued to be a “Hallmark holiday” (though, like most holidays, it isΒ rooted in some history) and certainly brings in a fair share of revenue with all the paper greetings handed out. But sometimes it’s celebrated as a family or church affair and a showing of shared love, too.

Is Valentine’s Day all that bad if it’s just a celebration of love? Or is it too cheesy for your tastes? Answer the polls below and then let us know more in the comments!

Last year I got pearl earrings and some Strawberry Tic-Tacs from my dad, a Paris mug and a $5 iTunes card from my mom, and a necklace from my sister. πŸ™‚

I love valentine’s day! I think it is great to have a day all about being loving. Don’t get me wrong, I think you should tell the people you love that you love them everyday but it’s nice to have one day dedicated to just that.

I have always felt pretty indifferent towards Valentines Day. My parents never do anything for it because they feel that doing special things for each other should be something that you do on any day from your own initiative instead of being prompted by a holiday. I personally think it’s cuter when couples do things for their anniversaries because it’s more personal and specific to them.

I have mixed emotions about Valentines day actually. It’s in a way a big gimmick to earn money for corporations and then it’s also fun for “couples”. My family celebrates it as a day for love in general of all kinda though. Still it’s a fairly fun time and we share chocolate haha

When I was younger I thought it was just for “couples.” But since last year, I’ve always looked at Valentine Day as a day to celebrate love all together. Whether your love for friends, relatives or pets I think that’s the true meaning.

I really don’t think Valentine’s Day has much of a point to it. It’s really just an excuse to buy things and show love to your boyfriend when you should be doing that every day. Now, my birthday is the next day, so that’s something, but really, Valentine’s Day is kind of pointless.

I see Valentine’s day as a day to appreciate ANYONE you love, God, family, friends, boyfriends, pets, anybody.

Valentine’s day isn’t just for romance; it can be used for families and friends to express their love for one another. And as Christ followers, we should show love for EVERYONE EVERYDAY, not just Valentines day

I’ve never had a Valentine but that is okay. I don’t know why people always complain about how much they don’t like it either. I think that you should just enjoy yourself. Even if you don’t have a boyfriend you can still have fun just by hanging out with your other single friends. That is what I do.

Well, you’re the only person who can decide how it’s going to go for you. You either sit at home and mope about how stupid/horrible it is, or you could have an absolutely normal day, or you could even decide to do something special for yourself just because. It’s up to you.

Well of course it’s cheesy! But really I think love is adorable. It makes everyone act so funny and happy and i like that even if i have felt it yet. I think its cute that couples get their own holiday of the yr and can celebrate together. idk, i just think its cute. <3 im cheesy sometimes.

I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. I never saw any point in griping about it (even when I was single) instead of owning it and having fun. When I was single, it was a time for me to be silly with my single friends or take the time to love and pamper myself. With my boyfriend, we use it as an excuse to do special things for our families together.
