There’s really nothing for the imagination like reading a book. Sure, movies and TV tell us stories as well, but those are played out right in front of us and we don’t get to make any of the choices. With books, you have the ability to imagine things a certain way in your head–everything from exactly the way a character looks to their mannerisms. In fact, this difference is actually what makes it hard for people to enjoy the movie adaptations of books they love; the movies just don’t fulfill the ideas they had in their head while reading.
While it may be tough to find time to read as a busy teen, if nothing else, you’ll be reading books for class throughout your education. Reading is one of the oldest and cheapest (hello, public library!) forms of entertainment and we want to know all about your favorite books, writers and reading rituals.

I LOVE Reading so much! I don’t like reading overly descriptive books, but for school I much. I find Dickens and other “classics” as such quite boring. But I love reading fantasy, adventure, and sci fi. I Love true stories or stories based off of real life events or people in this world. = )
I LOVE reading! My most favorite books are Nancy Drew or other fantasy and mystery books =D
My primary genre is science fiction. I am aspiring to be a sci-fi author, and as you can imagine I devour science fiction like a Saiyan devours ramen noodles! My favorite books include:
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength)
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Anthem by Ayn Rand
…and others.
I love the Sherlock Holmes short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
I am also a gigantic fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation novels. My favorite Star Trek author is Diane Duane, and two of her books that I absolutely love are Intellivore and Dark Mirror.
I am a fan of war novels as well, but I am definitely not keen on romance. I am addicted to classic novels such as The Art of War by Sun Tzu, Dracula by Bram Stoker, and even enduring Greek mythology like The Odessey and The Iliad by Homer. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte are the only two romance novels I actually like.
I am not a big fan of fantasy, although I do pay my respects to the genre. I love The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and the Redwall series by Brian Jacques, but that’s about it.
I have a passion for intellectual subjects, and I hunger for knowledge. I keep an obscenely fat Thesaurus in my bookshelf for reference as I’m writing my novels, and my entire bookshelf is beset by classical and intellectual books. In fact, I own so many books that I have had to create a makeshift extra bookshelf on top of my bookshelf, if that makes sense. One of my favorites is The Dramatic Writer’s Companion by Will Dunne, which offers a very useful question format to help develop one’s characters in writing.
I think I’ll stop rambling now; I’m quite sure you get the picture.
I love classics! Austen, Dickens, Gaskell, and all the rest. Gaskell is probably my favorite. I love, love, love ‘Wives & Daughters’
Also, though they aren’t really “reading” books, the Kerri Smith books are incredibly fun.
I LOVE to read! My favorite books are Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Heroes of Olympus, and Kingdom Keepers!
I love to read!!! I wouldn’t love it so much if it weren’t for Harry Potter though
NARNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love reading. Some of my favorite books are:
The Hunger Games Series
Striking a Match Series
Chronicles of Narnia Series
Christy Miller Series
Kingdom Keepers Series
Books of Bayern Series
River of Time Series
Princess Academy Series
and that’s it lol. I also love reading magazines and online articles.
I can never decide whether I like The Lord of the Rings or The Chronicles of Narnia better! I also really enjoy all the Sherlock Holmes stories, Montezuma’s Daughter, The Princess Adelina, and The Children of Odin.
I love classics, historical fiction, and romance. Kind of a weird blend, but it works. 😉 I will honestly read just about anything though! My favorite books are probably Little Women, the Hunger Games series, Phantom of the Opera, The Fault in Our Stars (I cried sooo hard!) Maze Runner, and pretty much any Ann Rinaldi book.
Right now I’m reading Moby-Dick, and I love it!
