I usually get up in the middle of the night/early Christmas morning because I can’t sleep, get out of my room by 8 a.m., open presents after breakfast, then the rest of the day for each of us is up to each of us. But that’s going to change since I now I have a job.

Since I now have a job, I’m going to buy them. I already got my sister a Hogwarts ornament from Hallmark’s. It attaches to the string of lights, and it plays Hedwig’s theme. A couple of my classmates who have jobs have been talking about getting Christmas gifts for each of the other classmates, (all 8 of them, guys, and then there’s me) so I’ve been thinking about getting the guy who got that idea in my head a The Legend of Zelda calendar, since he’s a big The Legend of Zelda fan.

    Getting a job.

    1. Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year? If so, what’s left for you to accomplish?
I didn’t make any for 2013, but I’m going to make some for 2014, definitely!
    2. What’s one major goal you have for this fall?
To spend as much time with my family as possible. Both of my brothers just left for college so I’ve been trying to value my family for than ever and have been looking through a lot of old photographs. Also, I have to finish moving my clothes and everything in my room to my brother’s old room before he gets home in three weeks! (It’s a lot bigger of a room, so when my oldest brother went to college, my middle brother got it. Now that he’s in college as well, it’s my room!)
    3. Do you have any special events or plans this month?
Yes! Thanksgiving is going to be awesome because we’re having a lot of family coming in. I love this time of year, and even though some people don’t think of it this way, I think that Thanksgiving is part of the Christmas season. So we’ll be hanging lights, listening to christmas songs, and making gingerbread houses!
    4. How much time off do you get for Thanksgiving break? What are you going to do during your break?
Just two days (And then the weekend). I’ll be spending time with my brothers and cousins who are coming in!
    5. What are your Thanksgiving Day plans?
At 6 every year we wake up and run a 5k called the Turkey Trot. Then, everybody comes home and we work on all the cooking, the pie baking, and spend a ridiculous amount of time decorating the table!
    6. What are your plans for Christmas break?
Right after Christmas we’re going to France for my mom’s 50th birthday! My aunt has lived there for 25 years, but she just recently bought an old priory in Burgundy and it’s so beautiful so we’re going there as a celebration!
    7. How do you typically spend Christmas Day? Do you know your plans for Christmas Day 2013?
At home! We’ve never had Christmas away from home. Every Christmas Eve we visit a fondue restaurant in downtown Chicago (We’ve been doing this since 2001 when we moved here) and then listen to “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on the way home. When we get home my dad reads “The Night Before Christmas” and my mom videotapes us sitting on the couch while my dad reads every year. Then in the morning I get up at 8ish and drag my brothers out of bed at 9. We go up to my mom and dads room (we sleep downstairs, then there’s a middle floor, and my parents room is the top floor) and sit on the stairs going down to the middle floor. We’re not aloud to go into the living room until my mom rings this bell and we all go down into the living room.
    8. What’s the one fall or winter activity you want to have done by the end of the year?
I want to go ice skating in downtown Chicago! I love ice skating and I don’t know why I haven’t been to the rink in Millennium park!
    9. This year, are you going to make or buy most of your Christmas gifts? Have you started already?
Buy, but usually they have some personal touches. I haven’t started at all! I procrastinate haha.
    10. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year so far?
Dealing with all the change that’s going on around me. I have anxiety and don’t do well with change, but I’ve been really trying to stay strong and keep my stress down. While it’s been hard, I’m really proud of how I’ve been doing.
