Happy PI Friendship Week! We are so excited to spend the week reflecting on our best pals and why we love them, and what makes a friendship an Inspired one!
As Christians, our friends are also our brothers and sisters in Christ. To live as Christ means to be there for our buddies and love them as Christ loves them, including inspiring them and being encouragers along the way. So what’s Inspired Friendship all about?
INSPIRED FRIENDSHIP MEANS:
1. To love as Christ loves us.
Be there for your friends when they need a shoulder to cry on, a hand to help and an ear to listen. Just as Christ is there for us whenever we need Him. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 2: 4-5, 1 John 4:9-11)
2. To encourage.
Christ calls us to encourage one another. (Ephesians 4:29, Hebrews 10:24-25)
3. To be in community with others.
Experiencing faith isn’t a solitary thing; it is a community effort. Inspiring friends to be in community with you isn’t only a good thing…it’s a biblical thing! (Matthew 18:20, John 13:34-35, Romans 12:3-12:13)
4. To forgive.
Let’s be honest–friendship isn’t always an easy road! But we must forgive our friends, just as Christ forgave us. (Daniel 9:9, Colossians 1:13-14, Matthew 6:9-15, Mark 11:25)
5. To uplift.
Being a Christian isn’t always easy. We face the same hardships as everyone else. But friends can lift us up when we’re down and help us find renewal in our faith. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, James 5:13)
