Why God Made Girls: Part 1

Today, I want to share something simple yet very powerful with you. This simple and sweet poem hung on the wall in our house when I was growing up and now hangs on the wall beside my desk.

    Why God Made Little Girls

God made the world with its towering trees

    Majestic mountains and restless seas

Then paused and said, “It needs one more thing…

Someone to laugh and dance and sing

To walk in the woods and gather flowers

To commune with nature in quiet hours.”

    So God made little girls

With laughing eyes and bouncing curls

With joyful hearts and infectious smiles

    Enchanting ways and feminine wiles,

And when He’d completed the task He’d

    Begun

He was pleased and proud of the job

    He’d done,

For the world, when seen through a little

    Girl’s eyes

    Greatly resembles Paradise.

    Author is unknown.

We don’t stay little girls forever but that doesn’t change the reasons that God made us. Even though I’m not a little girl anymore and haven’t been one for a while, I still read this poem to myself every day just as a reminder.

Keep an eye out for Why God Made Girls: Part 2 to see your place in God’s creation!

Psalm 139:14 – I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.

      • Hey Emily- of course you’re not going to hell because you like some of her songs. Pray about it, and ask the Lord to give you discernment when it comes to her music. Seek God in all things that you do, love Him with all your heart, and you will go to Heaven. Don’t be afraid! He loves you so, SO much!

    1. Hey Nicole. I don’t like to correct adults, but I feel like this is too important to pass by. Everyone who visits this site needs to realize that simply loving God won’t get you to heaven. You have to be born again. (John 3:3 – “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”) In order to be born again, (or saved, which means the same thing) you must first admit you are a sinner. (Romans 3:9-10 – “Both Jews and Gentiles… are all under sin; as it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.”) Then, you must believe that Jesus came to earth to die on the cross, and that He paid for your sin. (Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”) A lot of the girls on this site will be able to say that they’ve already done this; they know they’re sinners and they know Jesus paid for that sin. But it’s the third part that is crucial to go to Heaven. That final step is confession. You must confess to God in prayer that you are a sinner, tell Him that you believe that Jesus died and paid for that sin, then ask Jesus to come into your heart and cleanse you from that sin. You must believe not only that Jesus died, but that He rose again. You must ask Him to live inside your heart. (Romans 10:9 – “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”)
It’s really very simple, but so many people think they’ll get to Heaven without knowing that the Bible says confession is necessary.

    2. Just a final note to Emily Temeyer: once you have been born again, nothing can take away that salvation. “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) Also see John 10:28 – “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

    3. Love it! I can’t wait to read the next one. c:

@Emily – Once you have accepted Christ, you are saved, even if you like some of Lady Gaga’s songs. And don’t be afraid of the rapture. if you are saved that is a BRILLIANT day for you, the day God will take you up into heaven forever. c:

@The Other Emily – I accepted Christ when I was 13. Do you think she should point out Christ being the only way to heaven in an article? Surely everyone that visits this site knows (maybe I’m being too ignorant), yet I do understand people get confused with the meaning of being a Christian. Sure you can love and believe in God, but that doesn’t make you a Christian unless you accept the One he sent, Jesus Christ. Right below the amazing article by Jenn!

@Nicole – Sorry for thinking that you posted the Love Note article, when I looked back at my comment, I was like…’oh no.’ lol xD

    4. Hey Breanna – I didn’t mean to sound like she should address this in every article. Sorry if I came off that way. I’ve just been following this website for a while and Nicole has never talked about salvation, just ‘becoming a Christian.’ Lots of people become members of ‘Christian’ labeled churches and think that’s that. I just felt like someone should point out that you actually have to accept Christ.
