Why I Love The Indie Christian Rock Group, Worth Dying For

The band Worth Dying For (WDF) is catching the attention of the world with its bold stand for God and the message of Jesus Christ!

Composed of band members from a church based in California, the band is a part of the Ammunition Movement led by Jeremy and Christy Johnson. WDF is rising up an army of musicians to proclaim a bold message of the gospel. The band released a second album by Ammunition Records called “The Love Riot”  in 2011. Its third album is called “The Live Riot.”

The band was originally formed from the Southern California Ammunition church’s conference and the inspiration to write worship music and reach the community. According to New Release Tuesday,

What started out as a simple vision to write original worship songs given by the pastor of Ammunition Conference, Jeremy Johnson, turned into a youth movement of worship and originality.

‘Our desire has simply been to see our city saved and a empower a generation to reach their cities for Christ,’ says worship director of Worth Dying For and Ammunition, Christy Johnson, ‘Our music and creativity is the bi-product of that passion’ (New Release Tuesday).

Listen to the song “Power of Your Love”:

Another band member and worship leader Sean Loche shared the vision of the band:

The mission and vision does not end with Worth Dying For, it is only the beginning, we hope to inspire the next generation to continue writing songs for His Kingdom and learn that they can turn their calling and voices into powerful Ammunition to help people fall in love with Jesus (New Release Tuesday).

This band is so inspirational and powerful. I love its boldness and willingness to fight the current of the world. The members share the truth in love, passion, and with courage.

The band has so many different leaders, styles of sounds and different vocal arrangements and musicians. From the “Worth Dying For” biography on their website, the band members explain their genre and style:

    Loche said,

We’ll go from a song that has driving guitars, loud drums, and screaming in one song to a soft, melodic, ballad in the next. You can hear our musical influences which range from…Coldplay, to Lecrae.

    Christy Johnson said,

And sometimes there are very spontaneous moments of worship led by the Holy Spirit where a song can stretch out like nine, ten or even fifteen minutes. We’ve never captured that on a CD before until now and it’s a very powerful account of the raw passion we’re all experiencing.

    See the video “Destroy”:

Jeremy Johnson shared the Ammunition vision and the goal for the worship band in sharing the good news to the world.

It is our mission to raise up an army from the dust of the earth; the nothings, the left outs and abandoned. We serve a generation that marches to the beat of a different drum. Passion has robbed them of normality. It’s as if something was built inside that screams, ‘I will worship in the midst of pain and trials.’ We realize we are the end of the story. The heroes of faith are cheering us on and its through worship that we fight. Our job is to blow the trumpet in Zion, or in our case, guitars…We will sound the alarm, that the King of Kings has won the victory, and His name is Jesus.

PI readers, God is raising up an army to help build His Kingdom! Are you willing to follow His calling and leave behind the things that weigh you down, distract you and bring you away from God? Seek the Lord in worship and ask Him what your assignment is here on earth!

Don’t you love the passion of Worth Dying For? I am encouraged and moved to go change this world for God’s glory!

Rend your heart, and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity (Joel 2:13).

    1. I LOVE WORTH DYING FOR!!!! When I went to Nationals for Fine Arts in Louisville, Kentucky, they lead worship at National Youth Convention and it was the BEST experience of my life! Every day I want to go back and worship with them again!!!!!

    2. That’s so awesome! This is the first time I have ever heard of them, and it’s really cool to see someone who is not afraid to show their beliefs in a difficult career. Thanks so much for introducing me to them!
