Wildcard: ‘Breakthrough’ Film In Theaters Now (Boy Raised From Death To Life!)
Written by Christi Given | May 9, 2019
The story of The Impossible book, is now a major motion picture with Twentieth Century Fox Films called, Breakthrough (from the producer of Miracles from Heaven) is now in theaters. The film is based on the true story of a young boy who fell through an icy lake and was pronounced dead. His faith-filled mother desperately prayed for a miracle and God answered. Her son came back to life!
Here is the official synopsis of the film from the official Breakthrough movie website: “When Joyce Smith’s adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction.
From producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven) and director Roxann Dawson, adapted for the screen by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) from Joyce Smith’s own book, The Impossible, Breakthrough is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.”

PI girls, I had the honor and privilege of interviewing author Joyce Smith (The Impossible) and the mother of John Smith, the main character of the film Breakthrough. I also interviewed Pastor Jason Noble, who came immediately on the scene to join Mrs. Smith in prayer.
