You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made! By PI Girl Rachel
Written by PI Contributor | July 4, 2012

A new “trend” going around on YouTube recently has come to my attention. Preteen and teen girls are posting videos of themselves asking if they are fat and/or ugly, fishing for compliments to make them feel better about themselves. I don’t know if any of you frequently read comments on YouTube, but someone once accurately said, “YouTube is the most vile pit of comments you’ll ever see.”
With the sexualization of girls and the increasing pressure on girls to feel beautiful through magazines and TV, this trend may not be surprising. We’ve already seen pictures on Facebook asking people’s opinions, tweets about feeling ugly and blog posts about what they wish they looked like.
This hurts me because God has already told us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made! We were made by a beautiful and perfect Creator, who made us in His image. Therefore, WE must be beautiful and perfect, too. God has given us so many verses about how amazing we are. Why is it so easy to believe someone who doesn’t matter, someone we might never see again, but so hard to believe in the One who made us?
So God created man in His own image (Genesis 1:27).
You are altogether beautiful, my darling, there is no flaw in you (Song of Solomon 4:7).
Although yes, this book is between a man and his beloved, it is also symbolic of God’s relationship with us, His bride.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
Girls, you are so much better than what the world tells you. You are stronger than that. Beauty is so much more than what the world perceives.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised (Proverbs 31:30).
There have already been many articles posted on PI about beauty and self-worth. But it is SO important that you girls understand this. Some of these songs may or may not have been posted on PI before, but they are the truth and I urge everyone of you to listen to them again.
Jason Gray- “Remind Me Who I Am”

Johnny Diaz- “More Beautiful You”

Don’t you know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)
Someone had the idea to get many people to leave positive comments on these videos. If that’s something you would like to do, here’s one to get you started:

Others can be found in the suggestions sidebar!
Leave them a verse, tell them how beautiful they really are, maybe even direct them to PI.
What are some other verses or songs you girls like that help? π

Amen! It has bothered me for some time now that us women base our beauty so much on what our secular culture says. Let God tell you what true beauty is, and trust me, it’s not clear skin, or designer clothes!
I go into this more in depth on my blog:

Amen! I’m so blessed to have been raised in a Godly home where I was taught my true worth as a daughter of Christ, and it makes me so sad when I see other girls who don’t understand how beautiful God really made them

These videos make me so sad. God loves and adores each one of us girls INDIVIDUALLY, he made all of us special and unique. Our hope and trust should be in God, not other people. Girls we don’t need our peers to tell us we’re beautiful! We ARE beautiful because we are the most high God’s!! Feel proud of who you are because Jesus put you on this Earth for a reason.

At my dance studio, we have a class that we call “sacred” and it is a worship/contemporary style of dance. This year, we did a sacred show inspired by Psalm 139. The point of it was to educae girls that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made by God”. One of the songs that we used was “How HE Loves”, and it is a really beautiful song that can remind us of how much we are loved by Christ. Here’s a link (: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzfPHnoT0-0
Thanks for the wonderful post!! Blessings!

My song is Beautifully Made by Leah Smith. Just like the lilies of the field are beautiful, you’re beautiful just the way God created you! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You are special in God’s eyes! π
