    Your Summer Reading List!

Hey PI Girls! Time to take a break from all the books you HAD to read during school and start reading some books you SHOULD read for summer!

Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis

For anyone who really wants to dive deep into what faith is and who God is, Mere Christianity is for you.

The Screwtape Letters is an incredibly eye-opening account of our faith, our struggles with sin and so much more!

30 Words: A Devotional for the Rest of Us by Jarrid Wilson

This book shows you how to take a break from the fast-paced world we live in and take some time to make a habit of spiritual devotion.

Jesus > Religion: Why He Is So Much Better Than Trying Harder, Doing More, and Being Good Enough by Jefferson Bethke

This book digs into Bethke’s views on the power of Jesus and religion. A must-read for anyone trying to figure out this whole God thing and who Jesus is.

Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality by Donald Miller

Named one of the best books of the last decade, Donald Miller’s personal account of finding faith in a unique setting is a perfect read for anyone heading to college.

Addison Blakely: Confessions of a PK by Betsy St. Amant

Sixteen-year-old Addison Blakely is tired of being a PK—preacher’s kid. She begins to question her faith when a new boy rolls into town on his motorcycle and she sheds her good-girl persona. Addison learns many lessons about lust, faith and life.

    Starring Me by Krista McGee

Kara moves to sunny Orlando to audition for a part on a teen variety TV show, making acting high on her priority list and leaving her relationship with God in the dust. Then she discovers that God has much bigger plans for her, in a role only He can provide.

Both of the following books will be made into motion pictures this summer:

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

When 16-year-old Hazel Grace Lancaster survives stage IV cancer, she suffers from clinical depression and starts going to a weekly support group. There, she meets Augustus Walters, also a cancer survivor, and they fall in love. The two go on an overseas adventure to find the author of Hazel’s favorite book so she can find out what happens to the characters.

    The Giver by Lois Lowry

Jonas lives in a world with no war or pain, where everyone is assigned a role in the community. When Jonas turns 12, The Giver singles him out to receive special training.
