Hey PI Girls, we have a really inspiring new idea to tell you about! It’s from a company called Faith Box, and their mission is to enrich Christian lives through faith-based content and socially responsible product discovery. Basically, each month a box comes in the mail containing a few small but powerful things to make your life better. They just sent their first one out this month. The boxes contain everything from yummy food, eco friendly products to cards that have quotes, prayers, and random acts of kindness written on them. They are also donating a portion of the proceeds to charity.
The best part is that Faith Box is giving all PI Girls 50% (!?!) off the first box for new subscribers with the promo code: Inspired14
We interviewed Willie Morris, one of the cofounders of Faith Box, and here’s what he had to say!
PI: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.
Willie: I feel like I’ve lived four or five lives—I’ve bounced all around and been in a bunch of industries—Virginia, Alabama, Italy, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Seattle and now New York. I’ve always been a creator, though, whether it was starting an agency, a coworking space, or products for larger companies like Amazon or Boeing. I’m just really excited to be creating something that’s truly meaningful now and has the power to do good.
PI: How did you come up with the idea for Faith Box?
Willie: The initial idea to do a box with a positive mission for fellow Christians came out of a brainstorming session with two friends, Phil and Gary, one of whom is my cofounder. It took a good couple of months and a lot of soul-searching after that initial meeting to figure out how to create something meaningful that could help people with their faith and also be exciting to receive every month.
PI: Why do you think this is important?
Willie: It’s really easy to get caught up in the daily routines and forget about what’s important. Hopefully, our cards will become a daily habit for people to take just a few minutes to center themselves and reflect on their faith and God. I’m a firm believer that taking a few minutes a day to center yourself, especially in your faith, can make a huge difference—physically, mentally and spiritually. We also encourage kind acts toward others—if everyone was doing one or two more random acts of kindness a month, that’s a huge amount of positivity that’s being put back into the world.
PI: How do you come up with the items in each box?
Willie: I’m blessed that we have an amazing guy who heads up the products and content for each box, Cory. We set a theme for each month and then he scours his connections, the Internet, conferences, etc., to find amazing companies and products to include in each box. Then we work on making sure the cards, content and products all work together to create a holistic experience that will hopefully inspire our members.
PI: What are some exciting things you hope to see happen in the future with Faith Box?
Willie: Two things I’m really excited about—seeing people share the good deeds they’re doing/their own journeys and getting to a size where we can impact one charity a month via donations. The idea is to take $1 from every box sold and put it toward philanthropy.
PI: Is there anything else you’d like to mention?
Willie: I try to make myself available as much as possible to answer questions or help others when I can. Whether or not you decide to join our community (I hope you do!), feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com—I love hearing from people.
